Home or Gym?

It is so funny for me to think that I worked in a gym doing personal training for quite a few years but for a number of those years I didn’t exercise in the gym at all. I relied on the gym for my income but at the same time I didn’t use it. Kinda funny to me. Once I discovered working out at home, I never went back. No more warming up my car in the dead of winter, getting dressed in my workout clothes only to have to wait for a machine to open up. I was often on a time schedule so my workout got cut short pretty often because some people in the gym didn’t follow the rules of keeping to their time slot. Now I just have to roll out of bed and get to my “gym” down in my basement on my OWN time! What also keeps me working out at home are my kiddos. I didn’t want to put them into the car and drag them to the gym daycare so what I did when they were younger is put them in a pack n play next to my workout area. I was able to keep an eye on them and at the same time set a good example to them early on in their little lives. Now they LOVE to participate with me!

homegym

I  found structured workout programs that I can do at home that tell me what workout to do on what day and they also tell me what I need to be eating! No more thinking for me….and guess what? They are so stinkin fun!!

I am not saying that home workouts are for everyone. You may find you like the accountability of meeting friends at the gym and hitting up a class. Hey, if that is what gets you to move more, I am ALL in for that!
There are pros and cons to both options. For me, I have found that I can workout on my own time, not be intimidated by anyone at the gym and it is open 24 hours a day. Oh, I forgot the best part–NO membership fee to pay month after month!!  Tell me, what is it that you prefer??
