I know it can be tough starting out with a new fitness program and eating healthier. Now on top of it, you have to travel for work or you are going on a trip with your family. Either way, the trick is to PLAN AHEAD. Dig through some of your healthy cookbooks or a nutrition guides that came along with your programs and select meals you are able to eat while away. Making a meal plan will help keep you on track.
One thing my family and I do when we go on trips is to pack a cooler of our favorite “travel” foods so we can avoid stopping at gas stations and grabbing something unhealthy.
Items we like to pack along are:
*low fat yogurt
*tuna packets
*fruits/veggies–apples, berries, bananas, bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, etc.
*protein bars
*pre- made salads
*hard boiled eggs
*string cheese
*granola bars
*pre made sandwiches– Kids love those!
*Water
We also pack things such as oatmeal or cereal for breakfast, protein powder, whole wheat crackers with peanut butter, a trail mix of nuts and raisins and shakeology packets for lunches.
We even pack up our workouts as to not miss a single day while away! Know what you will eat and when and also when you will be doing your workouts. Putting it on a calendar like any other appointment will help hold you to it even if you are on vacation.
Planning ahead will truly help you in making better choices while you are away from home 🙂
